Definition: When the ignition switch is in the RUN position, one of
the following actions occurs:
• | The fasten-belts indicator lamp in the instrument cluster stays
illuminated when the driver's seat belt is fastened. |
• | The fasten-belts indicator lamp stays illuminated for more than
77 seconds when the driver's seat belt is unfastened. |
The BCM sounds the fasten-seat-belt reminder chime for 4-8 seconds
when the ignition switch is set to the RUN position when the driver's seat
belt is unfastened.

- Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
- Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
- Observe the fasten-belt indicator.
Is the fasten-belt indicator off?

- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Disconnect the instrument cluster.
- Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
- Using a J 39200
digital
multimeter (DMM), measure the voltage between the BCM harness connector C2
terminal D2 and ground.
Is the voltage measured less than the specified value?

- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Reinstall the connectors and the components which you removed.
- Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
- Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. The BCM sounds the
chime several times equivalent to the BCM type which is installed on the vehicle.
- Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC
position to the LOCK position, then back to the ACC position. The BCM sounds
any DTCs stored.
