Inspect the SWC ACCY fuse.

  1. Repair a short to ground in CKT 443.
  2. Test the system again.

  1. Connect a test lamp.
  2. Backprobe between connector C205 terminal A and ground.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Repair a poor connection or an open in CKT 443.
  2. Test the system again.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the steering column connector C205.
  2. Use a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) in order to measure the resistance between the steering column harness connector C205 terminal A and terminal C.
  3. Press each of the steering wheel control buttons one at a time.
  4. Compare the approximate resistance values to the specified values.

Do all of the resistance values approximately equal the specified values?
    • Volume up: 1270 ohms
    • Volume down: 1564 ohms
    • Play: 1912 ohms
    • Mute: 2387 ohms

  1. Disconnect the right side radio control switch.
  2. Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the resistance between the right side steering wheel control switch harness connector terminal A and terminal C.
  3. Press each of the steering wheel control buttons one at a time.
  4. Compare the approximate resistance values to the specified values.

Do the measured values approximately equal the specified values?
    • Volume up: 1270 ohms
    • Volume down: 1564 ohms
    • Play: 1912 ohms
    • Mute: 2387 ohms

  1. Inspect for a poor connection at the steering wheel switch harness connector.
  2. If the connection is OK, replace the right side steering wheel radio control switch. Refer to Steering Wheel Control Switch Assembly Replacement .
  3. Test the system again.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Inspect for a poor connection at the steering wheel switch harness connector.
  2. If the connection is OK, replace the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflator Module Coil Replacement in Supplement Inflatable Restraint (SIR) Tilt Steering Column.
  3. Test the system again.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Connect a test lamp.
  2. Backprobe between the radio harness connector C2 terminal 14 and ground.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Repair a short to B+ in CKT 1796.
  2. Test the system again.

  1. Connect a test lamp.
  2. Backprobe between B+ and the radio harness connector C2 terminal 14 and ground.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.

Does the test lamp light?

  2. Test the system again.

Test for a poor connection or an open in CKT 1796 between the radio harness connector C2 terminal 14 and connector C205 terminal C.

Is there a poor connection or an open in the circuit?

  3. Press each of the steering wheel control buttons one at a time.
  4. Compare the approximate resistance values to the specified values.

Do all of the resistance values approximately equal the specified values?
    • Seek up: 3102 ohms
    • Seek down: 4282ohms ohms
    • Scan: 6652 ohms
    • AM/FM 13632 ohms

  1. Disconnect the left side radio control switch.
  2. Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the resistance between the left side radio control switch harness connector C205 terminal A and terminal C.
  3. Press each of the steering wheel control buttons one at a time.
  4. Compare the approximate resistance values to the specified values.

Do all of the resistance values approximately equal the specified values?
    • Seek up: 3102 ohms
    • Seek down: 4282ohms ohms
    • Scan: 6652 ohms
    • AM/FM 13632 ohms

  1. Test for a poor connection at the steering wheel switch harness connector.
  2. If the connection is OK, replace the left side steering wheel radio control switch. Refer to Steering Wheel Control Switch Assembly Replacement .
