Verify that the left power mirror is inoperative.

Is the left power mirror inoperative?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Move the power mirror select switch to the LEFT position.
  2. Backprobe the power mirror switch connector with a test lamp from cavity 8 to cavity 6.
  3. Move the power mirror switch to the LEFT position and then to the RIGHT position.

Does the test lamp light with the switch in both positions?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 8

  1. Backprobe the power mirror switch connector with a test lamp from cavity 4 to cavity 6.
  2. Move the power mirror switch to the UP position and then to the DOWN position.

Does the test lamp light in both directions?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 8

  1. Backprobe the power mirror motor connector with a test lamp from cavity 2 to cavity 3.
  2. Move the power mirror switch to the LEFT position.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 7

  1. Backprobe the power mirror motor connector with a test lamp from cavity 2 to ground.
  2. Move the power mirror switch to the LEFT position.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 11

  1. Backprobe the power mirror motor connector with a test lamp from cavity 1 to ground.
  2. Move the power mirror switch to the DOWN position.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 9

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the mirror switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the left mirror motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the LT GRN/BLK wire between the power mirror switch and the left power mirror motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 15

Repair the open in the GRY wire between S243 and the left power mirror motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 15

Repair the open in the BRN/YEL wire between the power mirror switch and the left power mirror motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 15

Replace the power mirror switch. Refer to Power Mirror Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the left power mirror motor assembly. Refer to Power Mirror Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

  1. Move the power mirror select switch to the RIGHT position.
  2. Backprobe the power mirror switch connector with a test lamp from cavity 9 to cavity 6.
  3. Move the power mirror switch to the LEFT position and then to the RIGHT position.

Does the test lamp light with the switch in both positions?

Go to Step 4

  1. Backprobe the power mirror switch connector with a test lamp from cavity 3 to cavity 6.
  2. Move the power mirror switch to the UP position and then to the DOWN position.

Does the test lamp light in both directions?

Go to Step 5

  1. Backprobe the power mirror motor connector with a test lamp from cavity 2 to cavity 3.
  2. Move the power mirror switch to the LEFT position.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Backprobe the power mirror motor connector with a test lamp from cavity 3 to ground.
  2. Move the power mirror switch to the LEFT position.

  1. Backprobe the power mirror motor connector with a test lamp from cavity 1 to ground.
  2. Move the power mirror switch to the DOWN position.

Repair the open in the GRN/WHT wire between the power mirror switch and the right power mirror motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the GRY wire between S243 and the right power mirror motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open in the BRN/RED wire between the power mirror switch and the right power mirror motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?
