You may correct most wiring harness conditions by replacing a wire or
a connector rather than replacing the wiring harness. Use the following
guide if the instrument panel harness needs replacement:
- On the original equipment harness, tape to the casing and any
wires or connectors that are not used for any specific application.
- On the replacement harness, tape back the following components:
• | Corresponding connector(s) |
• | Any other unused connectors of the new harness |
- Observe the following procedure in order to obtain accuracy:
• | Work from one end of the harness to the other. |
• | Remove only a short portion of the harness at a time. |
• | Install the corresponding part of the replacement harness before
moving on to the next portion. |
- Always scrape away dirt and corrosion from around the hole for
the attaching screw holding a ground wire connector.
- Use a new screw if the existing screw is not clean and free from
corrosion.
