You may correct most wiring harness conditions by replacing a wire or a connector rather than replacing the wiring harness. Use the following guide if the instrument panel harness needs replacement:

  1. On the original equipment harness, tape to the casing and any wires or connectors that are not used for any specific application.
  2. On the replacement harness, tape back the following components:
  3. • Corresponding wire(s)
    • Corresponding connector(s)
    • Any other unused connectors of the new harness
  4. Observe the following procedure in order to obtain accuracy:
  5. • Work from one end of the harness to the other.
    • Remove only a short portion of the harness at a time.
    • Install the corresponding part of the replacement harness before moving on to the next portion.
  6. Always scrape away dirt and corrosion from around the hole for the attaching screw holding a ground wire connector.
  7. Use a new screw if the existing screw is not clean and free from corrosion.
