DEFINITION: This diagnostic should only be used if the low beam headlamps operate and the high beam headlamps are inoperative.

Was the Headlight System Check performed?

Go to Step 2

Go to Headlight System Check

1. Place the headlamp and the panel dimmer switch to the ON position.
2. Place the headlamp dimmer switch in the High Beam position.
3. Connect a J 39200 DMM, set on volts, between the high beam relay cavity G4 and ground.

Is battery voltage present?

--

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 7

Use a J 39200 DMM, set on ohms, in order to inspect for continuity between the high beam relay cavity H6 and ground.

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 8

Use a J 39200 DMM, set on volts, in order to inspect for battery voltage at the high beam relay cavity G6.

Is battery voltage present?

--

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 9

Connect a fused jumper across the high beam relay cavities G6 and H4.

Do the high beam headlamps illuminate?

--

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 10

Replace the high beam relay.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Headlight System Check

--

1. Inspect for an open in CKT 11 (LT GRN) and CKT 352 (WHT) between the high beam relay and the headlamp dimmer switch.
2. Repair the open as needed. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
3. If no opens are found, replace the headlamp dimmer switch. Refer to Multifunction T/S - Hazard Switch Replacement.

Repair the open in CKT 150 (BLK) between the high beam relay and G200. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Headlight System Check

Repair the open in CKT 343 (ORN) or CKT 42 (RED) between the high beam relay and S205. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open in CKT 11 (LT GRN) between the high beam relay and the high beam headlamps. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
