DEFINITION: This diagnostic should be used only if the high beam headlamps operate and the low beam headlamps are inoperative.

Was the Headlight System Check performed?

Go to Step 2

  1. Place the headlamp and the panel dimmer switch to the ON position.
  2. Place the headlamp dimmer switch to the Low Beam position.
  3. Connect a J 39200 DMM, set on volts, between C266, cavity E12 and ground.

Is battery voltage present?

Go to Step 3

  1. Inspect CKT 12 (TAN) for an open between C266 and the low beam headlamps.
  2. Repair the open as needed. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Was an open located and repaired?

--

Go to Headlight System Check

Go to Step 4

Use a J 39200 DMM, set on ohms, in order to inspect for continuity to ground on CKT(s) 150 and/or 250 (BLK) for the low beam headlamps.

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Replace the low beam headlamps.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Headlight System Check

Locate and repair the open in the headlamp ground CKT(s) 150 and/or 250 (BLK). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Inspect CKT 12 (TAN) for an open between C266 and the headlamp dimmer switch.
  2. Repair the open as needed. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  3. If no open was found, replace the headlamp dimmer switch. Refer to Multifunction T/S - Hazard Switch Replacement.
