Removal Procedures


    Object Number: 173010  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cables from the batteries. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the turbocharger assembly from the engine assembly. Refer to Turbocharger Replacement .
  3. Remove the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifolds to the turbocharger.
  4. Remove the glow plugs from the cylinder head (s). Refer to Glow Plug Replacement in Engine Controls-6.5L.

  6. Remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head (right side shown).

Installation Procedures


    Object Number: 68327  Size: SH
  1. Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head (right side shown).
  2. Install the exhaust manifold bolts (right side shown).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  4. Install the glow plugs from the cylinder head (s). Refer to Glow Plug Replacement in Engine Controls-6.5L.

  6. Install the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifolds to the turbocharger.
  7. Install the turbocharger assembly to the engine assembly. Refer to Turbocharger Replacement .
  8. Connect the battery negative cables to the batteries. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
