The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some owners may comment of the under hood insulator missing. A change was made for the 2009 model year to eliminate the insulator on all Work Trucks with the 4.3L V6 engine. With the elimination of the under hood insulator, it may be noticed that the paint is not as thick on the under side compared to the top of the hood. The under hood painted area continues to be considered a "B" surface as opposed to the top which is an "A" surface.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Do not charge warranty for the installation of an insulator or painting of the under hood, the vehicle is built as intended.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
