Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Position the drain pan as needed.
- Disconnect the transmission cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection .
- Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
- Remove the transmission support. Refer to Transmission Support Replacement in Frame and Underbody.
- Lower the transmission to gain access for pipe removal.
- Disconnect the cooler lines from the retainer (2) located on the right side of the engine.
- Disconnect the transmission cooler lines from the transmission. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection .
- Remove the oil cooler lines from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the transmission cooler lines to the vehicle.
- Connect the transmission cooler lines to the transmission. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection .
- Connect the cooler lines to the retainer (2), located on the right side of the engine.
- Install the transmission support. Refer to Transmission Support Replacement in Frame and Underbody.
- Install the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
- Connect the transmission cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Quick-Connect Fitting Disconnection and Connection .
- Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the transmission to the proper level with DEXRON® III transmission fluid. Refer to Fluid Capacity Specifications .
