Audible Warnings Diagnostic System Check

  1. Get into the vehicle and close the door.
  2. Turn the ignition to the RUN position.
    • The fasten seat belt indicator lights.
    • The audio alarm sounds.
    • The light and the alarm quit after approximately 10 seconds.
    • The fasten belts lamp does not light and the alarm does not sound with the seat belt unbuckled.
    • The fasten belts lamp does not light but the alarm does sound with the seat belt unbuckled.
    • The fasten belts lamp lights but the alarm does not sound with the seat belt unbuckled.

  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  2. Fasten the seat belt.
  3. Turn the ignition to the RUN position.
    • The fasten seat belt indicator does not light.
    • The audio alarm does not sound.

The fasten belts lamp lights and/or the alarm sounds with the seatbelt buckled.

  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  2. Leave the keys in the ignition and open the driver's door.

The audible warning sounds as long as the driver's door is open.

The key in the ignition alarm does not sound with the key in the ignition and the driver's door open.

  1. Close the driver's door.
  2. Remove the key from ignition.
  3. Turn the headlamps to the HEAD or the PARK position.
  4. Ensure that the interior lights dimming switch is not at maximum dimming.
  5. Open the driver's door.

The audible warning sounds as long as the headlamps are ON and the door is open.

The lamps on the warning alarm do not sound with the ignition OFF and the lamps ON.

Drive the vehicle and turn ON either turn signal for at least 0.75 miles.

The audible warning sounds with the flashing of the turn signal.

The turn signal reminder does not sound.

Perform Steps 1-5.

The audio alarm sounds properly in each situation.

    • The audio alarm does not operate at all.
    • The audio alarm sounds continuously.
