Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Raise vehicle. Refer to

    Caution: To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

  3. Object Number: 638583  Size: SH
  4. Remove the fuel filter quick-connect fittings. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  5. Remove the clamp bolt.
  6. Remove the filter and the clamp from the fuel pipes.

  7. Object Number: 638579  Size: SH
  8. Remove the clamp from the filter.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 638579  Size: SH

    Notice: Always re-attach the fuel lines and fuel filter with all original type fasteners and hardware.

    Do not repair sections of fuel pipes.

  1. Install the clamp to the fuel filter.
  2. Install the filter and clamp to the fuel pipes.
  3. Install the clamp bolt.

  5. Install the fuel filter quick-connect fitting. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. Lower vehicle.
  8. Inspect for fuel leaks through the following steps:
  9. 7.1. Turn ON the ignition for two seconds.
    7.2. Turn OFF the ignition for ten seconds.
    7.3. Turn ON the ignition.
    7.4. Check for fuel leaks.
