Did you review the Sunroof Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Operate the Slide switch to the open position.

Does the sunroof open?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the sunroof control module connector.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Test for ignition positive supply voltage at cavity 6 and cavity 12 of the sunroof control module connector. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 18

Test the sunroof control module ground circuit at cavity 11 for a high resistance or an open condition. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for a high resistance or an open in the sunroof limit switch No. 1 circuit between cavity 8 of the sunroof control module connector and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for a short to ground in the sunroof limit switch No. 2 circuit at cavity 9 of the sunroof control module connector. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Operate the slide switch to the open position and hold.
  2. Test for a high resistance or an open condition between cavity 1 of the sunroof control module and ground.

Did you measure a high resistance or an open condition?

  1. Disconnect the sunroof switch assembly.
  2. Operate the slide switch to the open position and hold.
  3. Test the open switch for a high resistance or an open condition.

Did you measure a high resistance or an open condition in the switch?

Go to Step 12

  1. Disconnect the sunroof actuator .
  2. Test for a high resistance or an open condition in the RED and GRN wires between the sunroof actuator and the sunroof control module. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Reconnect the sunroof control module connector.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Connect a test lamp between cavity 1 and cavity 2 of the sunroof actuator.
  4. Operate the slide switch to the open position.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 13

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the sunroof control module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the sunroof switch assembly. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the sunroof actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open circuit between cavity 1 of the sunroof control module and ground. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the sunroof control module. Refer to Sunroof Actuator Replacement .

Replace the sunroof switch assembly. Refer to Sunroof Switch Replacement .

Replace the actuator assembly. Refer to Sunroof Actuator Replacement .

Operate the system to verify the repair.
