Did you review the Horns Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Verify that the horns are inoperative.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Remove the horn relay.
  2. Use a test lamp in order to check the horn relay connector from cavity 1 to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Use a test lamp in order to check the horn relay connector from cavity 10 to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

  1. Use a test lamp in order to check the horn relay connector from cavity 1 to B+.
  2. Press the horn switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 6

  1. Use a test lamp in order to check the fuse block connector C5 cavity 10 to B+.
  2. Press the horn switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 8

Replace the fuse block.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 11

  1. Inspect for an open in horn feed circuit between the horn switch and the SIR contact coil.
  2. If OK, replace the SIR contact coil.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 11

Connect a fused jumper from the horn relay connector cavity 10 to cavity 11 of C201.

Does the horn sound?

Go to Step 10

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Replace the horn relay.

Is the repair complete?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
