Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 299100  Size: MH
  1. Suitably support the compartment lid in the full-open position.
  2. Mark the following hinge locations using a grease pencil:
  3. • The compartment lid
    • The rear compartment body
  4. Remove the following components:
  5. • The compartment gas strut.
    • The compartment lamp switch retainer
    • The harness retainer from the left side hinge assembly only.
  6. Remove the bolts (4).
  7. Remove the following components from the vehicle:
  8. • The nuts (3)
    • The rear compartment hinge assembly (5)

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 299100  Size: MH
  1. Install the rear compartment hinge assembly (5) to the body studs using the nuts (3). hand - tighten the nuts and the bolts (4).
  2. Install the following components to the left side hinge assembly:
  3. • The compartment lamp switch retainer
    • The harness retainer
  4. Install the rear compartment gas strut.
  5. Remove the rear compartment support.
  6. Important: Do not latch the compartment lid.

  7. Carefully lower the compartment lid.
  8. Inspect the compartment lid alignment.
  9. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Apply lubricating oil to the assembly pivot points on the rear compartment hinge.
  11. Tighten

        • Tighten the nuts (3) to 12 N·m (9 lb ft).
        • Tighten the bolts (4) to 12 N·m (9 lb ft).
