Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.
- Raise the vehicle.
Support the vehicle.
- Remove the oil pan and filter. Refer to
Automatic Transmission Fluid Filter and Seal Replacement
.
- Remove the oil feed pipes. Refer to
Oil Feed Pipes Replacement
.
- Remove the three lo and the reverse band servo
cover bolts, the servo and the spring.
- Disassemble, clean and inspect the lo/reverse servo assembly.

Installation Procedure
- Assemble the lo/reverse servo. Refer to Automotive Transmission
Transaxle Unit Repair Manual.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the lo and
the reverse band servo cover bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
- Install the oil feed pipe. Refer to
Oil Feed Pipes Replacement
.
- Install the oil filter and pan. Refer to
Automatic Transmission Fluid Filter and Seal Replacement
.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Fill the transmission. Refer to
Fluid Capacity Specifications
.
- Inspect the transmission fluid level. Refer to
Transmission Fluid Check
.
