Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1863906  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the beauty cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
  3. Remove the charge air system hoses and ducts. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Inlet Pipe and Outlet Pipe Replacement.
  4. Remove the fuel filter assembly. Refer to Fuel Filter Replacement.

  5. Object Number: 1822563  Size: SH
  6. Drain the engine oil.
  7. Remove the oil filter housing drain bolt with washer and drain the engine oil in the oil filter housing.
  8. Remove the oil filter cap with the O-ring.
  9. Important: Check the engine oil maintenance interval and replace the engine oil filter according to the interval. Also, you can check the engine oil remaining life in the scan tool.

  10. Remove the oil filter.

  12. Remove the oil filter housing adapter plate.
  13. Remove the oil filter housing with the O-ring.

  14. Object Number: 1822566  Size: SH
  15. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  16. Remove the oil filter housing fitting bolt.
  17. Disconnect the engine oil cooler inlet/outlet hoses.
  18. Remove the engine oil cooler with the O-ring.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1822566  Size: SH
  1. Install the engine oil cooler with a new O-ring.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Connect the engine oil cooler inlet/outlet hoses.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter housing fitting bolt to 50 N·m (36.9 lb ft).

  5. Install the engine oil filter housing with a new O-ring.
  6. Install the oil filter housing adapter plate.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter housing adapter plate to 40 N·m (29.5 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1822563  Size: SH
  8. Install the engine oil filter and cap with a new O-ring.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the engine oil filter cap to 25 N·m (18.4 lb ft).

  10. If you changed the engine oil, reset ECM program by using the scan tool.
