Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1887944 Size: SH
  1. Locate the four locking tabs on the generator cover.

    2. Object Number: 1887947 Size: SH
  2. Using a screwdriver (3), carefully pry the generator cover locking tabs (2) in four places and remove the generator cover (1).

    3. Object Number: 1887948 Size: SH

    Important: Screw (1) is slightly shorter then the other four screws (2).

  3. Remove the 5 screws (1 and 2) that retain the voltage regulator (3) and the rectifier (4) to the generator.

  4. Carefully lift up the rectifier (2) and remove the voltage regulator (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1887952 Size: SH
  1. Depress the voltage regulator (2) brushes and insert tube (1) into the opening to keep brushes in the depressed position.

    2. Object Number: 1887954 Size: SH
  2. Install the voltage regulator (1) on the generator and ensure the battery ring terminal (2) is positioned on the battery stud.
  3. Remove the brush tube (3).

    4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

    Important: Screw (1) is slightly shorter then the remaining 4 screws (2) and must be installed in the position shown.

  4. Install the 5 screws (1 and 2) on the generator.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the rectifier and voltage regulator retaining screws to 3 N·m (26 lb in).

  5. Snap the generator cover (1) into place.
