Caution: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

  1. Remove the common rail assembly. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement .
  2. Clean interface area of the rail pressure sensor using proper degreases materials and compressed air for drying.
  3. Notice:

       • Use care when servicing the fuel system components, especially the fuel injector electrical connectors, the fuel injector tips, and the injector O-rings. Plug the inlet and the outlet ports of the fuel rail in order to prevent contamination.
       • Do not use compressed air to clean the fuel rail assembly as this may damage the fuel rail components.
       • Do not immerse the fuel rail assembly in a solvent bath in order to prevent damage to the fuel rail assembly.

  4. Remove the rail pressure sensor with the gasket if equipped.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1820532 Size: SH
  1. Inspect and clean the thread and the sealing surface of the rail.
  2. Inspect and clean the thread and rail pressure sensor (1).
  3. Lubricate thread and bite edge (2) of the rail pressure sensor using lubricant Ft1v27, only apply a thin lubrication film.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

    Object Number: 1820531 Size: SH
  5. Install the rail pressure sensor to the common rail.
  6. Tighten
Tighten the rail pressure sensor to 70 N·m (51.6 lb ft).

  7. Prime the fuel system. Refer to Fuel System Priming .
  8. If you replaced the pressure sensor with a new one, reset the zero fuel correction values using a scan tool.
