Important: Use a suitable drift to install the bush.

  3. If required, install a NEW rear end plate bush (1) into the rear end plate (2), using a suitable drift.

  4. Object Number: 1957120 Size: SH

Important: Lubricating lip type seals with the system lubricant before installation will minimise the potential of seal leakage.

  5. Lubricate a NEW power steering pump drive shaft seal (1) with clean power steering fluid.
  6. Install the NEW power steering pump drive shaft seal (1) into the power steering pump housing (2) using E-1460-1

  7. Object Number: 1957066 Size: SH

Important: Lubricating O-ring seals with the system lubricant before installation will minimise the potential of seal leakage.

  8. Lubricate the two NEW thrust plate O-rings (1).
  9. Important: Make sure the O-rings (1) are seated correctly in the housing.

  10. Install the O-rings (1) into the housing (2).

  11. Object Number: 1957069 Size: SH

Important: The thrust plate must be installed correctly. Due to the asymmetric shape of the plate, it can be installed in either direction.

  12. Install the thrust plate (2) to the power steering pump housing (1) with the flat side facing upwards and align the small notch (3) in the plate to the notch (4) in the power steering pump housing (1).

  13. Object Number: 1957076 Size: SH

Important: Do not damage the seal lip (3) with the power steering pump drive shaft splines (4) during power steering pump drive shaft installation.

Important: Do not allow the thrust plate to become dislodged from the power steering pump housing.

  14. Install the power steering pump drive shaft (1) into the power steering housing (2).

  15. Object Number: 1957078 Size: SH

Important: Do not clamp the power steering pump housing (4) with excessive force, as this will distort the power steering pump housing.

  16. Support the power steering pump drive shaft (2) by placing a small block of wood under the power steering pump drive shaft and clamp the power steering pump housing (4) in a vice using soft jaws.
  17. Install the rotor (1) onto the power steering pump drive shaft (2).
  18. Important: If the full circumference retainer ring does not fit firmly in the groove, replace with a new one. Do not use a conventional Circlip or C-clip. Only use a full circumference retainer ring.

Important: Place the full circumference retainer ring (3) on the shaft and using of soft headed hammer and a deep 11 mm socket, tap the ring into place. Make sure the full circumference retainer ring (3) is correctly seated in the groove.

  19. Install the full circumference retainer ring (3) onto the power steering pump drive shaft (2).

  20. Object Number: 1957080 Size: SH

Important: If required, use a small amount of petroleum jelly to assist in holding the vanes (1) in place.

  21. Install the vane (1), ten places, into the vane channels (2).

  22. Object Number: 1957082 Size: SH

Important: Lubricating O-ring seals with the system lubricant before installation will minimise the potential of seal leakage.

  23. Lubricate lightly the NEW rear end plate seal (1).
  24. Install the NEW rear end plate seal (1) into the groove in the power steering pump housing (2).

Important: The power steering pump ring must be installed correctly, the "MS" mark must face towards the front of the power steering pump

  25. Install the power steering pump ring (3) onto the dowel pins in the rear end plate (4).
  26. Install the rear end plate (4) pump ring (3) assembly to the power steering pump housing (2).

  27. Object Number: 1957084 Size: SH

Important: The rear end plate (1) must sit within 2 mm (A) of the pump housing (2). If the rear end plate (1) is raised more than 2 mm (A) from the surface of the pump housing (2), remove the rear end plate (1) and realign the thrust plate.

  28. Rotate the power steering pump so the rear end plate (1) is vertical.
  29. Carefully remove the rear end plate (1) and make sure all the vanes are in place and manipulate into position if required.

Reinstall the rear end plate (1).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
