Clutch Rattle RHD

Cause

Action

DEFINITION: A rattle noise coming from the clutch components with the clutch disengaged or engaged.

Review the Symptoms - Clutch .

Idle rattle clutch engaged

Replace the engine flywheel, due to faulty damper springs.

Refer to the following procedures:

Clutch is incorrectly installed

Replace the clutch assembly. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement .

Clutch disc splines and transmission input shaft splines worn

  1. Inspect the clutch disc hub to transmission input shaft splines for excessive clearance.
  2. Replace the clutch assembly if the clutch splines are worn. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement .
  3. Replace the transmission input shaft. Refer to Transmission Disassemble for 3.6L Engines or Transmission Disassemble for 6.0L Engines.

Idle rattle clutch engaged

Replace the engine flywheel, due to faulty damper springs.

Clutch is incorrectly installed

Replace the clutch assembly. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement.

Clutch disc splines and transmission input shaft splines worn

  1. Inspect the clutch disc hub to transmission input shaft splines for excessive clearance.
  2. Replace the clutch assembly if the clutch splines are worn. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement.
  3. Replace the transmission input shaft. Refer to Transmission Disassemble.
