This bulletin is being updated to provide the correct part number for the lube kit. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-02-35-005A (Section 02 -- Steering).
Some customers may comment on a clunk type noise or feel in the steering wheel, coming from the front of the vehicle during any of the following conditions:
• | During low speed acceleration or deceleration, typically in light turning maneuvers; |
• | When the vehicle is stationary and the steering wheel is rotated from steering stop to steering stop. Some vehicles may only exhibit the noise once for every 360° of wheel rotation. |
Replace the I-shaft with a new design I-shaft (P/N 15925776 (Impala) or P/N 15925775 (Monte Carlo).
If the vehicle is already equipped with the new design I-shaft from a previous repair, grease the I-shaft using lube kit, P/N 26098237 .
Submit a Field Product Report (refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 02-00-89-002F) with repair information for vehicle repaired by greasing the I-shaft.
