The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may comment on a musty odor from the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. This condition occurs most often on initial start up after the vehicle was driven on a hot humid day.

CAUSE:

This condition may be caused by condensate buildup on the evaporator core, which does not evaporate by itself in high humidity conditions.

Recommendation/Instructions:

To enable afterblow:

  1. Verify the Tech 2® is updated with the latest software.
  2. Build the vehicle on the Tech 2®.
  3. Use the following Tech 2® Pathing: Vehicle Control Systems > Computer / Integrating Systems > Select engine > Module Setup > HVAC Control Module > Afterblow Option
  4. Follow the on screen directions.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
