Subject: | Driver or Passenger Window May Not Roll Up Properly, Wind Noise, and / or Water Leak |
Models: | 2006-2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may comment that the driver or passenger window may not roll up properly and gets "stuck." Other possible concerns are wind noise or water leaks. The customer may comment that the rubber at the top of the window rolls under the window glass. Any of these concerns might also be noted at PDI.
Cause:
The cause is that the window may have been adjusted slightly outward at the plant. Key boxes used on the glass of vehicles in dealer inventory may contribute to the window seal rolling under the glass. Seals taking a set as a result of the use of key boxes are not a result of a defect and should not be repaired under warranty.
Correction:
If this condition is noticed at PDI, a technician can roll up the windows and ensure that the rubber at the top of the glass run channel is not rolled underneath the window glass. As the vehicle sits on the dealership lot, the rubber will take a set in the proper position. If this is not done at PDI and the rubber is rolled underneath the glass, the rubber will take a set in the wrong position, possibly requiring a return visit by the customer and a costly repair to replace the window run channel.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
