Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the right front fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement .
  2. Lower the rear of the frame approximately 51 mm (2 in). Refer to Frame Replacement .

Power Steering Cooler Pipe/Hose Fitting Nut

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Tighten
27 N·m (20 lb ft)

Power Steering Cooler Pipe/Hose

Procedure

  1. Release the power steering cooler pipe/hose from the retainers on the frame.
  2. After repairs, refill and bleed the power steering system.

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the front tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  2. Remove the right fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement .
  3. Lower the rear of the frame approximately 51 mm (2 in). Refer to Frame Replacement.
  4. Loosen the power steering gear-to-frame bolts. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement.

Fitting

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Tip
Finger tighten the fitting.

Tighten
27 N·m (20 lb ft)

Hose

Tip
Replace the hose clamps if needed.

Retainer

Tip
Replace the retainer if damaged.

Hose

Procedure

  1. Position the cooler pipes/hoses on the frame and finger tighten any fitting before installing the retainers.
  2. Fill the power steering reservoir. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  3. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
