Did you perform the Instrument Cluster System Check?

  1. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.
  2. Connect a fused jumper from the oil pressure switch connector cavity to ground.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Does the oil pressure indicator lamp light?

  1. Disconnect the fused jumper.
  2. Disconnect the IP cluster assembly connector C1. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel Gauges, and Console for access.
  3. Connect a digital multimeter from the IP cluster assembly connector C1 terminal 8 to the oil pressure switch connector cavity.
  4. Measure the resistance.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Go to Step 5

  1. Inspect for a poor connection at the oil pressure switch.
  2. If the connection is OK, replace the oil pressure switch.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Inspect the IP cluster printed circuit for cracks or bad connections.
  2. If the circuit is OK, replace the oil pressure indicator bulb.

Repair the open in the YEL/BLK wire between the IP cluster assembly and the oil pressure switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
