Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Does the ECT gauge indicate C?

--

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 4

Replace the ECT sensor.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Instrument Cluster System Check

  1. Disconnect the IP cluster assembly connector C1.
  2. Connect a J 39200 from connector C1 terminal 6 of the instrument panel cluster assembly to ground.
  3. Measure the resistance.

Is the measured resistance less than the specified range?

OL

Go to Step 5

Repair the YEL/WHT wire between the instrument panel cluster assembly and the ECT sensor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Instrument Cluster System Check

Inspect the printed circuit of the instrument panel cluster for the following conditions:

    • Cracks
    • Bad connections

Are the connections OK?

Go to Step 7

Replace the ECT gauge.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the instrument cluster printed circuit. Refer to Printed Instrument Cluster Circuit Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
