Was the HVAC System Check performed?

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Disconnect the air conditioning (A/C) switch connector.

Does the A/C compressor clutch engage?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 3

Replace the A/C switch. Refer to Air Conditioning (A/C) Cooling Fan Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to HVAC System Check

  1. Disconnect the connector of the A/C compressor control module.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the A/C switch connector terminal 2 to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Repair the short to voltage in the BLU/WHT wire between the A/C switch and the A/C compressor control module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to HVAC System Check

  1. Remove the relay box cover.
  2. Remove the A/C compressor clutch relay. Refer to Compressor Relay Replacement .
  3. Remove the A/C condenser fan relay. Refer to Condenser Fan Relay Replacement .

Does the compressor clutch engage?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 8

Repair the short to voltage in the BLK/RED wire between the following components:

    • The A/C compressor clutch relay
    • The A/C condenser fan relay
    • S123

Is the repair complete?

Go to HVAC System Check

Reconnect the A/C condenser fan relay. The A/C compressor clutch should not engage.

Does the A/C compressor clutch engage?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 10

Replace the A/C condenser fan relay. Refer to Condenser Fan Relay Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to HVAC System Check

Test for short to ground in the PNK wire between terminal 2 of the A/C compressor clutch relay and terminal 7 of the A/C compressor control module.

Is a short to ground present?

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 12

Repair the short to ground in the PNK wire between the A/C compressor clutch relay and the A/C compressor control module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to HVAC System Check

Reconnect the A/C compressor clutch relay. The A/C compressor clutch should not engage.

Does the A/C compressor clutch engage?

Go to Step 13

Replace the A/C compressor clutch relay. Refer to Compressor Relay Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to HVAC System Check

Replace the A/C compressor control module. Refer to Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Control Module Replacement .
