Removal Procedure
- Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement
- Remove the torque converter (1) from transmission.
- Remove the torque converter seal bolts from transmission.
- Remove the torque converter seal from transmission.
- Remove the seal from the input shaft.
Installation Procedure
- Install the shaft seal to the input shaft.
- Install the torque converter seal to transmission.
- Install the converter seal bolts to transmission.
- Install the torque converter (1) to the transmission. While rotating the torque converter, push the torque converter into the position. The torque converter must be completely seated.
- Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts of the torque converter seals to 3 N·m (26 lb in).
