Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative
battery cable.
- Remove the 6 screws (1,2,3,4,5,6) from the center
console.
- Remove the center console from the vehicle.
- Shift the selector lever to the (N) position.
- Remove the shift lock solenoid assembly
screws (1).
- Remove the shifter indicator plate (3).
Moving towards the selector knob, disconnect the indicator lamp.
- Disconnect the shift selector electrical connector.
- Disconnect the shift select cable and the park lock cable from
the selector.
- Remove the bolt that retains the park lock cable from the shift
selector. Move the cable aside.
- Remove the shift lock assembly from the housing (4).
Installation Procedure
- Loosen the location spring
screw (1).
- With the selector lever in the (N) position, install the solenoid
assembly to the housing (3).
Important: A new shift lock solenoid assembly is supplied with a held key release
cam at the key interlock cable connecting position with a lock pin. Do not
remove the lock pin at this time of installation.
- Align the location spring end with the
guide grove (1) and tighten the spring screw (4).
- Apply lithium grease GM P/N to the guide grooves (1) and
the detent pin.
- Make sure lock pin tool is installed completely.
- Connect the interlock cable to the cam. Refer to Interlock Cable
Replacement in this Section.
- Remove the lock pin (2).
- Confirm that the key release cam and the interlock cable work
properly.
- Connect the shift lock solenoid and illumination lamp connectors.
- Install the select indicator.
- Install the center console.
- Install the 6 screws (1,2,3,4,5,6) to the console.
- Install the negative battery cable.
