  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Remove the transaxle oil level and the filler plug (1) from the transaxle.
  3. Inspect the transaxle oil level.
  4. The oil level should be even with the bottom of the transaxle oil level and the filler plug hole.

  5. If the oil level is low, add GM Goodwrench Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid, (GM P/N 12346190) or equivalent SAE 75W-90 GL-4 Gear Oil.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Apply GM P/N 12346004, or the equivalent, in order to seal the threads.Then install the transaxle oil level and the filler plug into the transaxle.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the transaxle oil level and the filler plug to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
