Removal Procedure
- Remove the parking brake lever trim bezel. Refer to
Parking Brake Lever Bezel Replacement
in Instrument
Panel, Gages and Console.
- Disconnect the parking brake switch electrical connector.
- Loosen the adjuster nut
(3) on the parking brake lever assembly.
- Remove the cables from the equalizer plate (4).
- Remove the three bolts holding the parking brake lever assembly
to the vehicle.
Remove the parking brake lever assembly from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the parking
brake lever assembly to the vehicle. Secure the parking brake lever assembly
with three bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the parking brake lever assembly bolts to 23 N·m
(17 lb ft).
- Install the parking brake cables to the equalizer plate (4).
- Connect the parking brake switch electrical connector.
- Adjust the parking brake. Refer to
Parking Brake Lever Adjustment
.
- Install the parking brake lever trim bezel. Refer to
Parking Brake Lever Bezel Replacement
in Instrument
Panel, Gages and Console.
