Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the two nuts (6),
the two washers (7) and the two cushions (8) from the stabilizer
links at the control arms.
- Remove the following components from the vehicle:
• | The two mounting brackets (4) |
• | The stabilizer shaft (2) |
- Remove the two nuts (10) and the stabilizer shaft links
from the stabilizer shaft (2).
Installation Procedure
- Install the stabilizer
shaft links to the stabilizer shaft (2). Secure the links with the
two nuts (10). Do not tighten the nuts fully.
- Install the stabilizer shaft (2) to the vehicle. Secure
the shaft with the two mounting brackets (4) and four bolts (5).
Do not tighten the bolts fully.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Important: Align the color painted marks on the stabilizer shaft to the inside
of the mount bushings in order to correctly center the stabilizer shaft.
- Install the following components to the stabilizer shaft links at the
control arms:
• | The two link washers (7) |
Tighten
• | Tighten the stabilizer shaft mounting bracket bolts to 25 N·m
(19 lb ft).

• | Tighten the stabilizer shaft link nuts to 28 N·m
(20 lb ft).
|
• | Tighten the stabilizer shaft link-to-stabilizer shaft nuts to
50 N·m (38 lb ft).
