Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 175913  Size: SH
  1. Remove the 3 upper strut support nuts (1) from the strut tower.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  4. Support the control arm with a floor jack.
  5. If the vehicle has ABS, remove the bolt and the wheel speed sensor harness from the strut.

  7. Remove the E-ring that secures the brake hose (2) to the strut bracket (3).
  8. Remove the brake hose (2) from the strut support.

  10. Remove the strut-to-knuckle nuts (2) and the bolts from the strut assembly.
  11. Remove the strut assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 175913  Size: SH
  1. Install the strut assembly to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Secure the upper strut support (1) nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the upper strut support nuts to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  6. Install the strut-to-knuckle bolt and the nuts (2).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the strut-to-knuckle bolts and the nuts to 80 N·m (59 lb ft).

    Notice: Do not twist brake hose when installing it. Install E-ring so that it is flush with the hose bracket opening.

  8. Attach the brake hose (2) to the strut bracket (3).
  9. Secure the brake hose with the E-ring.
  10. Attach the wheel speed sensor harness to the strut.
  11. If the vehicle has ABS, attach the wheel speed sensor to the strut. Secure the wheel speed sensor harness with the bolt.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  13. Remove the floor jack.
  14. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  15. Lower the vehicle.
