Removal Procedure

  1. Siphon two-thirds of the fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  4. Position the C-clamp around the outer pad and caliper. Tighten the clamp until the piston bottoms in its bore.

  5. Object Number: 178630  Size: SH
  6. Remove the brake pads and the caliper (2) from the caliper carrier. Suspend the caliper with a wire (1) in order to prevent damage to the brake hose. Refer to Brake Pads Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 178641  Size: SH
  8. Remove the brake caliper bracket (3). Refer to Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement .
  9. Remove two rotor screws.
  10. Remove the rotor from the wheel hub. If the rotor cannot be removed by hand, install two 8 mm bolts into the rotor. Tightening the bolts will force the rotor off the wheel hub.

Installation Procedure

Tools Required

J 42450-A Hub Cleaning Kit

  1. Use the J 42450-A to clean the hub.

  2. Object Number: 178629  Size: SH
  3. Install the rotor to the wheel hub. Secure with two screws.
  4. Install the caliper carrier, with the caliper and pads, into position. Refer to Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement .
  5. Install the brake pads and the caliper. Refer to Brake Pads Replacement .
  6. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Fill the master cylinder fluid reservoir. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling in Master Cylinder.
