Makes 🢒 Chevrolet 🢒 2009 🢒 Malibu 🢒 Body Repair 🢒 Bolted Exterior Body Panels and Closures 🢒 Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Open the hood.
  2. Remove the upper fascia support.
  3. Mark the position of the latch to the body.
  4. Remove the hood latch bolts.
  5. Disconnect the hood release cable from the hood latch by squeezing the hood release cable retainer.
  6. Remove the side trim panel retainers.
  7. Remove the hush panel from the instrument panel.
  8. Remove the knee bolster from the instrument panel.

  9. Remove the hood latch release cable handle bolts.

    10. Note: Ensure the end of the wire or string remains in the passenger compartment.

  10. Tie the wire or string to the end of the hood release cable in order to aid in the installation of the new hood release cable.

    11. Object Number: 363889 Size: SH
  11. Remove the grommet from the engine compartment into the passenger compartment using a small flat-bladed tool.
  12. Remove the hood release cable from the instrument panel.

    13. Object Number: 1315801 Size: SH
  13. Remove the wire or string from the hood release cable.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1315801 Size: SH
  1. Tie the wire or string to the hood release cable.
  2. Install the hood primary latch release cable through the hole in the instrument panel.
  3. Install the hood release cable through the instrument panel using a small flat-bladed tool until the grommet is fully seated.
  4. Remove the wire or string from the hood release cable.
  5. Install the hood latch release cable ball to the latch.

    6. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  6. Install the hood latch fasteners and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  7. Install the upper fascia support.
  8. Install the knee bolster to the instrument panel.
  9. Install the hood latch release cable handle to the instrument panel.

    10. Object Number: 1343785 Size: SH
  10. Install the side trim panel.
  11. Install the hush panel to the instrument panel.
