Removal Procedure
- Open and support the liftgate.
- Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to
Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the liftgate wiring harness.
- Place protective coverings over adjacent body panels.
- Use a grease pencil to mark the location of the liftgate hinge to the
liftgate.
- Remove the struts from the liftgate. Refer to
Liftgate Strut Replacement
.
- With the aid of an assistant, remove the bolts from the liftgate hinge.
- With the aid of an assistant, remove the liftgate
from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- With the aid of an assistant, align marks on
liftgate with liftgate hinges.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- With the aid of an assistant, install the liftgate hinge bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the hinge bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the liftgate struts. Refer to
Liftgate Strut Replacement
.
- Remove the protective coverings.
- Install the liftgate wiring harness.
- Install the liftgate trim panels.
- Remove the support and close the liftgate.
