Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1275980  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the bolt retaining the negative cable to the core support.

  3. Object Number: 106524  Size: SH
  4. Remove the tape holding the positive cable and ground strap to the negative cable.
  5. Remove the negative cable from the retainers.
  6. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  7. Remove the lower closeout panel. Refer to Radiator Air Side Baffle and Deflector Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  8. Remove the front transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Front Mount Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T40-E/4T45-E.
  9. Remove the nut retaining the ground cable to the bellhousing stud.
  10. Remove the ground cable.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the ground cable.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the nut to retain the ground cable to the bellhousing stud.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the ground cable nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the front transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Front Mount Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T40-E/4T45-E.
  6. Install the lower closeout panel. Refer to Radiator Air Side Baffle and Deflector Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the negative cable to the retainers.

  9. Object Number: 106524  Size: SH
  10. Tape the positive cable and the ground strap to the negative cable.

  11. Object Number: 1275980  Size: SH
  12. Install the bolt to retain the ground cable to the core support.
  13. Connect the negative ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
