Compressor Pressure Relief Valve Replacement L61

Special Tools

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1201907  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Remove the compressor pressure relief valve.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the compressor pressure relief valve.

  2. Object Number: 1201907  Size: SH

    Tighten
    Tighten to 8 N·m (70 lb in).

  3. Lower the vehicle.
  4. Connect the battery negative cable.
  5. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  6. Leak test the fittings using the J 39400-A .

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1201916  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the engine drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.5L (LX9).
  3. Remove the compressor wire harness connector.
  4. Remove the compressor mounting bolts.
  5. Remove the compressor from the engine with the compressor line attached.
  6. Remove the compressor pressure relief valve.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the compressor pressure relief valve.

  2. Object Number: 1201916  Size: SH

    Tighten
    Tighten to 8 N·m (70 lb in).

  3. Install the compressor to the engine.
  4. Install the compressor mounting bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  6. Install the compressor wire harness connector.
  7. Install the engine drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.5L (LX9).
  8. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  9. Leak test the fittings using the J 39400-A .
