Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 607150 Size: SH

Important: This sunroof system has 1 of 2 actuators. The first actuator, P/N 22611858, is timed from the factory in order to automatically shut off the sunroof actuator when the window panel reaches a certain position. Do not disrupt this factory timing when removing the sunroof actuator from the sunroof module. Disrupting the factory timing may cause damage to the sunroof system. Close the window panel whenever you remove the sunroof actuator from the sunroof module assembly. The second actuator, P/N 22621083, is not timed and can be removed at any position the sunroof is in. See diagram to determine which actuator is in the vehicle being serviced.

  1. Close the sunroof, if possible.

  2. Object Number: 282455 Size: SH
  3. Remove the headliner from the vehicle. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.

  4. Object Number: 280687 Size: MH
  5. Remove the express module from the sunroof (8). Refer to Power Sunroof Express Module Replacement .
  6. Remove the sunroof actuator bolts from the sunroof actuator.
  7. Remove the sunroof actuator (7) from the sunroof module.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 282455 Size: SH
  1. Before the new actuator is installed or the old actuator is re-installed, ensure that the actuator with P/N 22611858, is timed to the close position.

  2. Object Number: 607150 Size: SH
  3. Verify that the original sunroof actuator or the new sunroof actuator is timed to the closed position.
  4. The hole in the large timing gear, notch in the disk below the drive gear and the scribe mark on the drive gear should all be in line with each other.

If the actuator is not timed to the closed position, connect the switch, wiring harness and express module to the sunroof actuator and run the actuator into the closed position. Verify timing per the first step.

  5. Install the sunroof actuator to the sunroof module.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the sunroof actuator bolts.
  8. Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

    Object Number: 280687 Size: MH
  9. Connect the wire harness connector to the express module and install the express module. Refer to Power Sunroof Express Module Replacement .
  10. Tie wrap the drive tube, return tube and wire harness in place (5, 6).
  11. Install the headliner to the vehicle. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
