Important: A short to ground will cause an open fuse(s). Before performing this diagnostic procedure, inspect the fuse(s) for an open.

  1. Disconnect the IP compartment lamp switch connector.
  2. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance between terminal B of the IP compartment lamp switch connector and ground.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

0-2 ohms

Go to Step  2

Use the DMM in order to measure the voltage between terminal A of the IP compartment lamp switch connector and ground.

Does the voltage measure to the specified value?

B+

Go to Step  4

Repair the open in CKT 250 between the IP compartment lamp switch and ground splice pack G203. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the IP compartment lamp switch. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Lamp Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Use the DMM in order to backprobe the left IP junction block connector C1. Measure the voltage between terminal E9 and ground.

Does the voltage measure to the specified value?

B+

Go to Step  6

Repair the open in CKT 1732 between the left IP junction block and the IP compartment lamp switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the left IP junction block. Refer to Relay/Fuse Center Replacement in Wiring Systems.
