A/C LEAKS WATER INTO FRT. OF VEHICLE-NEW DRAIN TUBE GROMMET

SUBJECT: A/C EVAPORATOR DRAIN WATER LEAKS INTO THE FRONT OF VEHICLE (INSTALL GROMMET TO END OF DRAIN TUBE)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1990-91 U-VAN

Condition:

--------- Water from the A/C Evaporator drain tube leaks into the front of the vehicle.

Cause:

----- Condensate water from the Evaporator drain tube flows rearward along the outside of the tube and into the vehicle at the seal area.

Correction:

---------- Install a plastic grommet to the end of the drain tube. This grommet acts as a dam and causes the water to drip off at that point, rather than running into the vehicle.

Vehicles prior to the following 1991 breakpoints are affected:

Procedure:

--------- 1. Raise vehicle.

2. Install grommet onto the end of the A/C Evaporator drain tube. Grommet should be flush with the end of the drain tube. Refer to Figure 1 for orientation of the grommet.

3. Lower vehicle.
