Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 39232 Wiper Transmission Separator


    Object Number: 441668  Size: SH
  1. Remove the wiper arm assemblies from the vehicle. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement .
  2. Remove the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  3. Remove the connectors from the wiper motor assembly.
  4. 3.1. Pull two retainers out of the two connectors.
    3.2. Disconnect two connectors from the wiper motor assembly.
  5. Remove three screws and the wiper drive system module from the vehicle.

  7. Remove the wiper motor crank arm from the wiper transmission assembly using the J 39232 .

  8. Object Number: 441673  Size: SH
  9. Remove the nut and the wiper motor crank arm from the wiper motor assembly.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the wiper motor crank arm onto the wiper motor assembly with the nut.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. Install the wiper motor crank arm on the wiper transmission with the J 39529 .

  4. Object Number: 441668  Size: SH
  5. Install the wiper drive system module onto the vehicle with three screws.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten three screws to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  7. Connect the two connectors to the wiper motor assembly.
  8. Install two retainers in the connectors.
  9. Install the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  10. Install the wiper arms onto the vehicle. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement .

Inspection Procedure

    • Inspect the park position. Both wiper arms must be against the park ramps.
    • Inspect the wipe pattern. The dimension should be 55-132 mm (2.17-5.20 in) from the top of the driver's side wiper blade assembly on the outerwipe to the edge of the glass.
    • The correct park position and outerwipe dimension are determined with the wipers operating at low speed on wet glass.
