Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad And Garnish Clip Remover

  1. Remove the front seat . Refer to Seat Replacement .
  2. Remove the armrest (driver's side AM6). Refer to Front Seat Armrest Replacement .
  3. Remove the finish panels. Refer to Front Seat Trim Panel Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 291917  Size: SH
  5. Remove the recliner tilt handle screws.
  6. Remove the retainers (1) (driver's side AM6).

  7. Remove the recliner lever from the seat.

  8. Object Number: 291940  Size: SH
  9. Unsnap the swing wire (2) from the hole at the front of the outboard frame side.
  10. Remove the swing wire.

  11. Remove the pushin retainers with J 38778.
  12. Remove the J-retainers.

  13. Object Number: 292017  Size: SH
  14. Remove the front seat cushion (1) from the seat.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 292017  Size: SH
  1. Position the front seat cushion (1) to the seat.
  2. Install the J-retainers.
  3. Install the pushin retainers.

  4. Object Number: 291940  Size: SH
  5. Snap the swing wire (2) into the hole at the front of the outboard frame side.
  6. Install the swing wire.

  7. Install the recliner lever to the seat.

  8. Object Number: 291917  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Install the recliner tilt handle screws.
  10. Install the retainers (1) (driver's side AM6).

    Tighten
    Tighten the recliner tilt handle screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  11. Install the finish panels. Refer to Front Seat Trim Panel Replacement .
  12. Install the armrest (driver's side AM6). Refer to Front Seat Armrest Replacement .
  13. Install the front seat. Refer to Seat Replacement .
