Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 38778 Door Trim
Pad And Garnish Clip Remover
- Remove the front seat . Refer to
Seat Replacement
.
- Remove the armrest (driver's side AM6). Refer to
Front Seat Armrest Replacement
.
- Remove the finish panels. Refer to
Front Seat Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the recliner tilt
handle screws.
Remove the retainers (1) (driver's side AM6).
- Remove the recliner lever from the seat.
- Unsnap the swing wire
(2) from the hole at the front of the outboard frame side.
Remove the swing wire.
- Remove the pushin retainers with J 38778.
- Remove the J-retainers.
- Remove the front seat
cushion (1) from the seat.
Installation Procedure
- Position the front seat
cushion (1) to the seat.
- Install the J-retainers.
- Install the pushin retainers.
- Snap the swing wire (2)
into the hole at the front of the outboard frame side.
Install the swing wire.
- Install the recliner lever to the seat.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the recliner
tilt handle screws.
Install the retainers (1) (driver's side AM6).
Tighten
Tighten the recliner tilt handle screws to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
- Install the finish panels. Refer to
Front Seat Trim Panel Replacement

- Install the armrest (driver's side AM6). Refer to
Front Seat Armrest Replacement
.
- Install the front seat. Refer to
Seat Replacement
.
