Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the front end sheet metal diagonal brace. Refer to Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace Replacement in Body Front End.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.1L or Air Cleaner Element Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.

    3. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  4. Reposition the left underhood accessory wiring junction block. Refer to Accessory Wiring Junction Block Replacement in Body Front End.
  5. Remove the washer solvent container assembly. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  6. Remove the air cleaner assembly bracket from the fender bolt.

  7. Remove the battery hold-down retainer bolt.
  8. Remove the battery hold-down retainer.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 45664 Size: SH
  1. Install the battery hold-down retainer.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Install the battery hold-down retainer bolt.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the battery hold-down retainer bolt to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  3. Install the air cleaner bracket upper bolt.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the air cleaner bracket upper bolt to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  4. Install the washer solvent container assembly. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  5. Install the left underhood accessory wiring junction block. Refer to Accessory Wiring Junction Block Replacement in Body Front End.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  7. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.1L or Air Cleaner Element Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
  8. Install the front end sheet metal diagonal brace. Refer to Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace Replacement in Body Front End.
