Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 293464 Size: SH
  1. Remove the hood latch. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement .
  2. Remove the air cleaner.
    3. • For the 3.1L engine, refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.1L.
    • For the 3.8L engine, refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
  3. Disconnect the hood release cable from the engine compartment.

  4. Remove the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  5. Reposition the carpet in order to gain access to the cable.
  6. Tie a wire or string to the end of the hood release cable in order to install a new hood release cable.
  7. Remove the hood release cable from the dash panel by turning the grommet counterclockwise and pulling the grommet and the hood release cable through the hole in the dash panel.

    8. Ensure the end of the wire or string remains in the engine compartment.

  8. Remove the hood release cable from the hood latch release handle. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement .

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 551649 Size: SH
  1. Tie a wire or string to the hood release cable.
  2. Feed the hood release cable through the hole in the dash panel.
  3. Twist the hood release cable grommet clockwise until fully seated.
  4. Reposition the carpet.
  5. Install the hood release cable to the hood release handle. Refer to Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement .
  6. Install the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  7. Connect the hood release cable to the engine compartment.
  8. Install the air cleaner.
    9. • For the 3.1L engine, refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.1L.
    • For the 3.8L engine, refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8L.
  9. Install the hood release cable to the hood latch. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement .
