Correction

GM Engineering is attempting to determine the root cause for this condition. GM has a need to obtain information BEFORE any repairs are made. Complete the following steps and note all results/findings on the repair order:

  1. Inspect the washer fluid container and note any contamination.
  2. Inspect the hoses and/or nozzles for a possible restriction or being clogged.
  3. Make sure the connector to the windshield washer pump is fully seated.
  4. Inspect the ground to the control side of the windshield washer relay and the ground to the windshield washer pump (ground G100 and Splice S124). Clean as necessary.
  5. Using the Tech 2®, command the windshield washer relay On and Off. Note: the washer fluid pump will operate until you select Off.
  6. Tech 2® path: Computer Integrating Systems/Special Functions/Body Control Module/Miscellaneous Test

  7. Does the windshield washer relay function?
  8.  - YES - go to Step 3
     - NO - replace the windshield washer motor. No further repairs required.
  9. With the ignition ON, connect a test lamp to ground. Probe each of the test points on the windshield washer fuse while activating the windshield washer switch.
  10. Important: Continue to diagnose the vehicle. DO NOT make any repairs at this time.

     - If the test lamp does NOT illuminate at either test point, refer to the Washer Switch Test in SI (refer to Washer Malfunction).
     - If the test lamp illuminates, refer to Washer Fluid Pump Test in SI (refer to Washer Malfunction).
  11. BEFORE any repairs are made, contact engineering Chuck Clayton at 248-408-9306. Chuck will provide repair information. It may also be necessary for Chuck to inspect the vehicle.
