Subject: | Replacing the Theft Deterrent Module |
Models: | 2006 Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
SI does not specify that the keys must be replaced after a theft deterrent module is replaced. Currently a software calibration is not available to reprogram existing keys on the 2006 Impala and Monte Carlo. The software is expected to be available in the near future.
This vehicle is equipped with a PK3+ system. The PK3+ keys can only be learned to one theft deterrent module at this time. When you replace the theft deterrent module you must replace all the keys until further notice.
Procedure for programming a new theft deterrent module:
Note: Additional keys can be added by using the quick learn method if one good key is available or the 30 minute auto learn method if no good keys are available.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
