Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement 3.8L

1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.8 L.
2. Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove the air inlet duct from the throttle body .
4. Remove the AIR pipe, if equipped. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Pump Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement in Engine Control - 3.8 L.



5. Remove the exhaust crossover heat shield nuts.
6. Remove the exhaust crossover heat shield.



7. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe bolts and studs.
8. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe.
9. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe seal.

1. Install the exhaust crossover pipe seal to the exhaust crossover pipe at the right exhaust manifold connection.
2. Install the exhaust crossover pipe.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install the exhaust crossover pipe bolts and studs.

Tighten
Tighten the exhaust crossover pipe bolts and studs to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).




4. Install the exhaust crossover heat shield.
5. Install the exhaust crossover heat shield nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the exhaust crossover heat shield nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

6. Install the AIR pipe, if equipped. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Pump Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.8 L.
7. Install the air inlet duct to the throttle body.
8. Connect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector.
9. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.8 L.

Exhaust Crossover Pipe Replacement 3.4L

1. Remove the air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.4L.
2. If equipped remove the AIR pipe. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Shut-Off Valve Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement . in Engine Controls - 3.4L.
3. Remove the thermostat by-pass pipe. Refer to Thermostat Bypass Pipes Replacement in Engine Cooling.
4. Remove the exhaust crossover heat shield bolts.
5. Remove the exhaust crossover heat shield.



6. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe nuts.
7. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe.

1. Install the exhaust crossover pipe.

2. Install the exhaust crossover pipe nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the exhaust crossover pipe nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).




3. Install the exhaust crossover heat shield.
4. Install the exhaust crossover heat shield bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the exhaust crossover heat shield bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

5. Install the thermostat by-pass pipe. Refer to Thermostat Bypass Pipes Replacement in Engine Cooling.
6. If equipped install the AIR pipe. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Shut-Off Valve Outlet Pipe/Hose Replacement . in Engine Controls - 3.4L.
7. Install the air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.4L.
