Removal Procedure

    Notice: The inertial weight section of the crankshaft balancer is assembled to the hub with a rubber type material. The correct installation procedures (with the proper tool) must be followed or movement of the inertial weight section of the hub will destroy the tuning of the crankshaft balancer.

  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  4. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.
  5. Suitably support the frame. Loosen the right side frame bolts. Lower the right frame for access to the crankshaft balancer bolt. Refer to Frame Replacement in Frame and Underbody.

  6. Object Number: 190528  Size: SH
  7. Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt and the washer.

  8. Object Number: 370280  Size: SH
  9. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Use the J 24420-C .
  10. Clean and inspect the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Clean and Inspect in the Engine Unit Repair Manual.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the crankshaft balancer.

  2. Object Number: 190528  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the crankshaft balancer washer and bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt to 103 N·m (76 lb ft).

  5. Suitably support the frame. Install the frame. Refer to Frame Replacement in Frame and Underbody.
  6. Install the right engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.
  7. Install the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
