Supplement to 01-08-111-003 Ditch Molding Distorted, Lifting

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Ditch molding distorted, lifting.

1. Remove the molding completely, sand the ditch surface with 3M 9MIC grade sandpaper (3M part number 268L).
2. Tack rag the ditch and clean thoroughly with a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water using a lint free cloth.
3. Install 3M two part leveling epoxy P/N 8307 or equivalent.
4. Install a new molding from front to back, progressively pressing it into the ditch as the adhesive backing cover film is pulled off.
5. Roll down the molding from front to back using a hand roller with a wheel of small enough width to fit into the body ditch.
6. Let the vehicle sit in a cool spot for at least 8 hours so the molding adhesive strip can wet out to the vehicle body.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
